About Riverstone
Riverstone Graves is a writer of immersive, character-driven fiction, poetry, and tantric philosophy. His work explores human flourishing through the broad lenses of spirituality, the humanities, and science. A practitioner of eastern spirituality, he brings a deeply compassionate perspective to his characters, some of whom are exploring issues related to personal identity and unconventional relationships amidst a backdrop of war, prejudice, and fear.
He grew up among the hill folk of the Ozark Mountains and inherited from them a rich tradition of yarn-spinning and abiding close to nature and the spirit world. His family lived in cabins way out in the hills along the White River in Northern Arkansas. They made moonshine, played bluegrass music, and told Southern Jack Tales on front porches. His great grandmother was one of the fabled "Granny Witches of the Ozarks" and a practicing Sin Eater. As a child, he roamed the forests and hills for miles, observing the wildlife and developing a deep connection to nature. This background rooted in family, tradition, and nature, combined with an attunement to unconventional spirituality, infuses his works with passion, mysticism, and awe.
He holds a B.A. in English and Humanities, and a Master of Divinity with an emphasis in Comparative Religion. As an undergraduate, he was awarded "Outstanding Playwright" at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, and "First Place in Content and Design" as founder and editor of the literary magazine Areté at Columbia University's Gold Circle College Press Awards.
Riverstone lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas with his wife and four dogs. He enjoys hiking, camping, canoeing, music and art festivals, and playing the Native American flute. Be sure to sign up for his email list to get updates on his latest work.
